Family Weekend is one of the most exciting times on campus. Showing your family how you live at SMU and around Dallas can be fun, but also stressful. It's difficult to coordinate where they're staying, what activities to do and how you're getting around town. Hopefully, with a few ideas, you'll have a stress-free Family Weekend with plenty of new memories.

1. The Boulevard

The Boulevard is one of the best parts of Family Weekend. It's exciting to get dressed up and see your friends, as well as their families. Make sure to buy a ticket to the Family Weekend Barbecue so you can fill up before the big game.

2. The Talent Show

Take your family to the Talent Show and let them see how talented SMU students are! From The Belle Tones to Mustang Mavericks and Voices of Inspiration, there are plenty of acts that will blow the audience away.

3. Family Weekend Musical

Speaking of SMU talent, make sure to go to a free showing of "Hairspray" on Sunday at 11am and 7pm. Sing along to all of your favorite songs while cheering on your friends!

4. Family Weekend Luncheon

On Friday at 12pm in the Hughes-Trigg Ballroom, the SMU Mother's Club is hosting a Luncheon for families and students. This is a great way to meet other families as well as avoiding eating Arnold's food!

5. Dallas Cowboys vs. Chicago Bears

If you want to go off campus, take your family to the Cowboys game on Sunday! Make it a football-packed weekend (with hopefully at least one win).

6. Go to the Open Houses

Way better than the high school versions, Family Weekend is a great time for your families to meet professors and learn about different programs on campus. Make sure to go to the Study Abroad open house, Panhellenic recruitment info session and the SMU-in-Taos open house.

7. SMU v TCU Game

And last but not least, who can forget about our famous rivalry? Hopefully this year, the Battle for the Iron Skillet will not disappoint. With a promising start to the season for the Mustangs, hopefully we will be reclaiming our the prized skillet.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
