6 Summer 2016 Trends

From checking out the items at Fashion Week, popular magazines and of course the ever-so-trendy Pinterest, here are just a few of the trendiest picks for summer 2016! Money saving tip: since these pieces are trendy, I would suggest buying certain pieces at a discounted price. No sense in buying zebra print pants at an expensive store only to be stuck with them three months later when they're old news. I’m kidding about the zebra print, but you get the gist. Invest in quality pieces that are timeless and feel shameless about spending less money on trends (Hint: check out Forever 21 or Charlotte Russe for the least expensive trends!).

  1. Suede and fringe is back with a vengeance! Yes, I’m telling you it may be possible to borrow from your mom’s old clothes! Fringe bags, shoes and skirts made of suede are all the rage.
  2. See through net and mesh! Yep, you got it. Lace, netting, mesh — whatever it takes. The more see through, the better. Of course these are always statement pieces to be layered over a cute bralette or cami!
  3. Denim here, denim there, denim everywhere! I’m telling you, denim shorts aren’t the only thing you can rock on a hot, summer day. Stores far and wide are selling tons of denim pieces whether it’s vests, skirts, dresses or crop tops. You name it, they probably sell it.
  4. Orange you glad I told you it’s a hot color this season? Okay, I’ll stop with the corny jokes. But really, this summer color screams warm weather and is an awesome statement piece, whether it’s in a top, necklace or shoes!
  5. Lace up or ankle strap heels are so big right now, I can guarantee that either you or someone you know owns a pair. Ankle strap heels are timeless (especially in nude or black). The new ghillie style lace up shoes come in sandals, flats and heels to boot (whoops, corny joke again).
  6. Sunglasses become all the rage, especially once summer rolls around and days are spent on the beach, at the pool or working outside in the sweltering summer sun. Pick up some aviators, reflective lenses, round frames, cat eye frames or a huge MUST, over-sized lenses! Whatever you do, treat yourself to a good pair of sunnies and protect those eyes! You only have one pair (the eyes, not the sunglasses).

Will you be wearing any of these for summer 2016?

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
