If you go to UCF, you've most likely been to the Knights Pub, or as we like to call it, Pub. If you don't go to UCF, there's most likely a similar bar near your campus--you know, that dive bar that everyone frequents because it's ran by fellow students and is dirt cheap. Pub is always a good time, and I am in no way denying that, but lets be honest, stuff gets pretty nasty up in there.
1. What's that smell?
I swear every time I walk into Pub there's this potent odor that I can't even begin to describe. It's kind of a mix between spoiled beer and foot stank. Whatever it is, it definitely shows up at Pub every night. Although Pub is too fun to pass up, that smell tends to haunt the bar, especially the main bar area.
2. Why is there a Mt. Everest of toilet paper?
If you've been in the Pub bathrooms, this doesn't need an explanation. There is always, and I mean always, a huge pile of toilet paper in the toilets that has surpassed the rim, creating a giant mountain of something you definitely don't want to sit on. This isn't Pub's fault though, this is truly the fault of drunk people forgetting that toilets flush.
3. How is everything so cheap?
This is definitely an upside to Pub, but still a huge mystery to us all. How can we pay no cover charge and drink for free?!? How do they make money?!? I don't understand, but I'm definitely not complaining. This is one of the reasons a huge population of students frequent this bar.
4. How can I push through all of these people?
This is a huge problem on busy nights, such as Ladies Night or on the weekend. Getting into the bar can be a challenge in itself on busy nights, then we have to figure out a way to push through an entire fraternity to get to the bar and order a drink.
5. Who's that creep staring at me?
Once the alcohol has been flowing for a while and people start getting weird, there's always that creepy person across the bar that keeps locking eyes on you for some reason. As the crowd disperses throughout the night, that person becomes even creepier.
6. Who's working?
If you are a Pub regular or in Greek Life, you most likely know most of the bartenders. Everyone has their favorite bartender, and if they're working, you know it's going to be a good night. One of the first things you do when you walk in is scope out who's bartending and post up near your favorite.
No matter what thoughts may run through our heads on a night out, we all love the Knights Pub. We will forever look past the smell, crazy crowds, and super creeps for those free or $1 drinks. Cheers to that!
