From improving your GPA to making sure you graduate on time or even early, there are many reasons to take college classes over the summer. Since numerous universities and colleges will transfer credits from different institutions, students can head back home for break and take a class or two at a college near their hometown. They're not exactly a fun way to spend a break when all of your friends are enjoying their summer off or have even more time to work and make money. That being said, they always pay off in the end, even if we have a lot to say about them in the meantime:
1. "I'm going to work hard this summer and ace these classes"
Optimism can never hurt! Although it might not last very long, you might as well start off the semester on a good note with a positive attitude. Who knows? Maybe it won't be as dreadful as you first feared.
2. "Why did I decide to take summer classes again?"
Everyone asks themselves this at one point or another. Nonstop studying in the summer isn't easy. Summer classes are often squeezed into a shorter amount of time, which might initially seem more efficient. Remember, though, that also means that you have to learn the material at a much quicker rate, which is not exactly a pleasant experience for challenging courses.
3. "I thought this was supposed to be summer BREAK"
The only thing that's breaking this summer is my brain. I thought summers were meant for resting. Apparently not so much anymore...
4. "I can't hang out then; I have class"
School isn't that terrible until all your friends are hanging out without you because you have to study or go to class.
5. "I'm not going to class tomorrow"
You might say it, but if you are anything like me you know you will always end up going. With the class only lasting a few months, the lectures are long and packed. Missing one can be a potential disaster.
6. "Hopefully this pays off in the end"
All in all, you know it's worth it. Especially if you're not taking a full course load, you know that it's not as bad as it may seem at first. You'll be able to adjust to your new schedule in no time and still make the most of your summer.
