We all have memories from being a kid that we dearly miss. However, those days of being carefree and knowing that your parents would take care of everything are long gone. Of course being a college student gives you more freedom, but it's not necessarily all that we want. Here are a few things that we miss about being a kid and would give up a lot to have back while in college.
1. Having nap time.
Napping in college is not the same as being a kid. When you're a kid you get to nap whenever you get tired. But in college, you only get to have twenty-one minutes and thirty second naps because you have class and a paper due half an hour.
2. Not having to worry about grades
Remember the days where a book report could be on whatever book you wanted and the grade didn't even matter? Yeah, those were nice times. Now you get outrageous books to read that you swear put you to sleep and you only have two weeks to read it and write a report. And to top it off, that report is twenty percent of your grade.
3. Having someone to tell you what to do
I miss the days where I wouldn't have to worry about what I had going on for the day or what I had planned for tomorrow. Now I have to figure out my whole life without anyone telling me what I should do. There's no one telling me to wake up for class in the morning or anyone telling me what projects I have to do this week. Everything is up to me.
4. Not being judged for crying in the middle of the day
Back when we were kids, if we started to cry in class someone would ask us what is wrong or just assume it was nap time. Now if we cry in class we can look over and see five people staring at us like we're crazy or better yet, someone taking a Snapchat of "the crazy girl crying in class".
5. Having your parents make important phone calls for you
We all dread making those important phone calls whether it be to a potential job or even scheduling our own doctor appointments. When we were kids all we had to do was have our parents call and not worry about feeling anxious or awkward on the phone.
6. Knowing you still had time to grow up
Being younger meant imaging your future and thinking that anything was possible. We could imagine being astronauts or president; and while that may be in reach for some of us, the rest of us have changed those images a bit. And yes, that definitely does stress us out knowing that we have to choose what we want to do and stick with it. There is no more time to "grow up" because we are basically adults now. But, we also should remember that even though we are adults, we are all still kids inside a grown up body.
