There's nothing better than knowing it's the end of the semester, and knowing that as soon as you finish your exams, you're free for a few weeks. But after a break and all the holiday celebrations, here are the hardest parts of going back to school for the next semester.

1. Waking up for class

No matter when your first class is, it's always hard to wake up for the first class of the day. Especially after a month of not having to wake up at a certain time.

2. School work

Thinking about doing assignments again is hard, especially after not having to do work. When looking at the syllabus, it's hard to think about another semester of exams and projects.

3. Dining hall food

After having homemade food, having to come back to the dining hall food is difficult, and so is having to go back to making your own food. There's nothing that makes you prepared to go back and eat food that you don't actually like.

4. Walking across campus in the cold

Going to a big school means that to get to classes, you have to walk far in between class. Not only do you have to get back into college mode, you also have to walk across the campus in the cold.

5. Sharing a Room

If you live in a dorm, then you don't have your own room to yourself, and coming back after break can be hard to adjusting to living in a smaller room again.

6. Waiting until the next break

Spring semester has fewer breaks than the fall, so coming back from break means that you have to wait until spring break to have the next break from school.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
