If you're anything like me, you've had a best friend that has been in your life for a while. My best friend and I met our freshman year of high school, so our friendship has been going on for about 5 years. Our friendship has changed a lot as we have grown up, but since graduating high school, our friendship has become much more mature, without us even realizing it.
1. Your main mode of communication is texting
My best friend and I don't get to talk very often, but when we do, it's usually over text.
2. Your hangouts are few and far between.
My best friend and I can rarely find time to have the girls nights we used to in high school, and it's really depressing.
3. When you do hang out, you have to tell each other your last few months life story.
When my best friend and I do hang out, we always have new details about our recent lives to talk about, whether it's her new boyfriend, her new place, my wedding planning, etc.
4. Work dictates every ounce of both of your lives.
Every time we try to make plans, we both have to work. Our last girls night was insanely spontaneous and happened to be on a night we both didn't work until later the next day.
5. When we hang out, we talk about our feelings and we aren't afraid to tell each other we love each other
Now that we are older and have seen so much together, telling my best friend how much I love her is normal for us at this point.
6. We don't bullshit each other anymore.
When my best friend does something I don't agree with, I tell her, and she does the same for me. We are both grown up enough to know honesty is the best policy, even if it's a bit brutal sometimes.
Having a best friend to grow up with is nothing shy of awesome, and my best friend and I have changed so much, for the better, our friendship has only adapted.
