6 Reasons Why I'm Forever Thankful For My Sister
Ally Lasch

In the season of Thanksgiving and the holidays, I thought I would share just one of the MANY things I am thankful for: my sister. A sister can be a lot of things; she can be supportive, caring, loyal, honest, etc. My sister is all of those and so much more.

Here are some other reasons why I am most thankful for mine.

1. Sharing Clothes

We might not always ask, but having a sister means having two closets or two outfits to choose from every time you leave the house. When you’re dreading wearing that same distressed white V-neck for the third day in a row, just take a peak in the drawers across the hall, there has to be something in there!

2. Advice

Whether I want to hear it or not, my sister is always using her ‘years of experience’ stories and wise words to guide me in the right direction. I can always count on her to tell me all the right things at the right time. Whether it's which size pearl earrings to wear with my outfit or if I am stuck in a situation with friends, she is always there to tell me what to do or how to fix it.

3. Acts as my personal photographer for Instagram (I, of course, return the favor)

Self-timer is a great thing but how do you get the perfect angle or lighting without someone behind the lens? The answer is a sister. My sister has my best interests at hand and knows when something is Insta-worthy or something that needs to go straight to recently deleted.

4. On my side (most of the time)

Siblings have an unspoken rule to back each other up. With my sister especially, she knows I support her and she does the same for me; its what makes us closer. If there is a situation we don't agree on with someone else or even each other, we find a way to work it out no matter what.

5. There is always something to laugh about

"Do you remember that one time” is one of our favorite lines. Laughing about childhood stories or something that our parents did that was so embarrassing yet so funny will last us a lifetime. Those kinds of memories are the best kinds and have us laughing till the tears roll down our face and we feel like we suddenly have a six-pack.

6. Always there for me

Unlike a friend, you’re permanently stuck with your siblings. There’s no getting out of it….and I wouldn't change it any other way. Although we have our fair share of busy schedules, my sister and I always find time for each other and pick up just where we left off.

Thanks for being the best big sister and role model a little sis could ask for.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
