6 Reasons 'Tis The Season To Be Happy

With the impending doom that is registration looming over the heads of every college student around this time, I think it's safe to say that people are a little stressed out. I recently spent three hours in the library trying to decide what I wanted to major in and what I want to do with my life, and I'll just say, trying to plan out your entire future is not a feasible goal when you only have three hours of free time to accomplish it. So instead of thinking about all of the many reasons why we could be feeling down right now, I think it's time we all take a step back and think about a few reasons we should be happy this time of year instead.

1. It's (almost) Thanksgiving.

I'd like to hope I'm not the only one counting down the days until thanksgiving break, even though it feels like fall break just ended. It's not that I want college to pass by too fast, I just really REALLY wants some homemade holiday food. So get excited because Turkey Day is almost here!

2. It's (almost) Christmas.

I know, I know, Christmas is literally a month and a half away, but also, IT'S ONLY A MONTH AND A HALF AWAY! Turn up that Mariah Carey, deck the halls with boughs of holly, and put up that Christmas tree early because you deserve to have a little holiday spirit if it keeps your spirits up.

3. Taylor Swift's new album is out.

OK, so this might not apply to everyone, but I know I can't be the only one that internally fangirls over the release of anything Taylor Swift related. As I write this, I'm still counting down the days until I can finally hear this potential masterpiece, but I'd like to assume it'll be just that.

4. It finally feels like Fall.

I wore a sweater today. I repeat: A SWEATER. This is not a drill, the leaves have finally decided it's time to fall, and the heat turned on this morning in our dorm room. You know it's real when they turn on the heat, and I think that's a real reason to be happy. Break out the fall clothes and get some hot chocolate because this beautiful season has finally graced us with it's presence.

5. Midterm season is (basically) over.

I know what you're thinking, and it's probably something along the lines of, "midterms might be over, but finals are right around the corner," and while you may be right, you're still amazing enough to have finished the first round of papers and exams, so cheer up! You're doing great, and that's something to smile about.

6. You have people in your life that want to see you succeed.

This one isn't specific to this time of the year, but it's true nonetheless. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow, you're always going to have people who love you and want to see you happy and successful, so if you're ever feeling down and out, talk to your mom, your best friend, or your roommate because they care about you and your happiness.

So cheer up, even if things aren't going your way right now, or school is hurling you curve ball after curve ball, don't let anything in life get you down because there are so many wonderful, fun, and loving reasons for you to just be happy instead.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
