I love summer so much, I wish it could last forever. But I know that it can’t, so here are six reasons why I am excited to go back to school:

1. Going back into a schedule

When you go back to school, you are forced to fall back into a schedule, and I miss that, because it makes me feel like I'm accomplishing something even if I don’t think you am.

2. Learning something new

It feels good to do something new. When you work over the summer and hang with your friends, you learn a lot socially. But that can’t compare to learning facts and information that make your mind flutter.

3. I miss my college friends

I love my high school friends, they mean the world to me. But I really do miss my college friends, too, because we bonded so quickly and I can’t wait for the semester to begin so we can only get closer.

4. Living away from home

I love living at home, but living away from home is such a great way to make you more responsible and help you with the real world. It feels nice to live away from home and appreciate it more when you come back.

5. You can make your own choices

You make your own choices every day, even without realizing it. But when you make your own choices against your own schedule, it makes you feel more structured, especially since now you are not living at home.

6. Food whenever I want it

Okay, so I know the cafeteria closes early and that I have this option at home, too, but it's so cool to walk into the cafeteria and see all different types of food/meals everyday, so conveniently.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
