6 Ways You Know You're A Dog Mom
Sarah Ashraf

Whether you are adopting or looking to buy a puppy, you know that you are getting a forever friend. From the moment you look into their eyes, you know it's meant to be and from then on out they become your world. You are a dog parent from then on. You will do anything and everything for them and then you actually go above and beyond. So here are few things you know to be true if you are a crazy dog mom:

1. When you live to please your pooch

If you are anything like me, you make sure your pup has anything and everything he/she needs like a collar and a bed and things they don't need like clothes and lots of toys and treats. You don't want your pup to feel like it's going without anything it could possibly want even though they can't tell you.

2. When you are in pet store and feel that your dog needs all of it

Whether it be PetSmart or PetCo, you go there to get dog food and maybe treats. You walk through the doors and see the cutest outfit for your baby. You grab it and put it in your basket and walk by the most adorable toy, so you grab that and put that in your basket and by the time you get to the food, there is no room in your basket.

3. When your dog gets more pampering than you do

Just like the day you got them, your perfect pooch has to stay just that, your perfect little baby. So you keep them on a schedule with your groomer. And like clockwork, they have an appointment every 6 weeks. And because you love them so much you make them they occasional spa appointment. You end up spending more on them than you do yourself, but you don't mind because they are your babies.

4. When your pup has their own album on Facebook and on your phone

Being a dog mom you take lots of photos of your precious babies, so many in fact they need their own photo album. So being the proud parent that you are, you create an album with all of their pictures because there are no bad ones.

5. When leaving, you say goodbye to your dog at least 3 times

You're ready to walk out of the door and give your dog a few kisses and set them down. Then your dog is giving you those big, sad eyes. You kneel down and tell them you love them and goodbye. You turn to open the door and they huff and you say you'll be back soon. You open the door and they bark at you, so you pick them up and debate taking them with you but your place of employment doesn't allow dogs. So at this point, you contemplate calling off work but realize it's too late. So you give your dog a final kiss and leave and shut the door all while tearing up cause you miss them already.

6. When coming home to your fluffy-butt is the highlight of your day

After an awful day at work or even just a day of work, you look forward to coming home to your pup. The warm welcome, the kisses, and that tail wiggle is just what you need to complete your day.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
