I was 13 years old when I started wearing glasses. At first, I only wore them when I needed to see the board in class. But as time started to pass, my vision eventually got worse and I decided that I wanted to try contact lenses.
Learning to put in contacts was definitely not easy for me. I really had to practice get them into my eyes probably. In the beginning, I was not comfortable with touching my eye and it took many trails to get them in the morning.
While contacts may be life survivors and convenient for those who do not want to wear glasses, they do have their pitfalls.
Here are a few problems that I have run into with wearing contacts.
1. Putting your contact in inside-out
For those who do not know, there is essentially a right side and wrong side of a contact lens. And let's just say that when you put them in the wrong way it can be extra painful. It is kind of feels like something is repeatedly stabbing you in the eye.
2. Dropping your contacts
Occasionally I drop a contact lens and then I have to clean it and start all over again. Or even worse, I drop my contact lens on the ground and I am never able to find it.
3. Having dry eyes
Sometimes contact lens can feel super drying. Some days it is a huge relief to take them out of my eyes when I am done with my day. Fortunately, eyes drops can also help with dry eyes!
4. Losing a contact during the middle of the day
Losing a contact is never fun, but there are times when you have to rub your eye or your eye becomes watery causing your contact to come out. If you have some solution with you at the time, you can easily clean your contact and put back in.
Some of us are not so lucky. One time I lost a contact at school and had to walk around with one contact in all day.
5. When you feel like wearing your glasses and no one recognizes you
Occasionally, there are days or periods where I want to wear my glasses instead of my contacts. I do like wearing my glasses but sometimes it feels like I am undercover because it takes my friends and teachers a few seconds to recognize me when I have them on.
6. Running out of contacts when you want them
The thing about contacts is you have to replace them. You have to make sure you order new ones before you run out or you will be stuck wearing your glasses if you want to see.
