6 Perks Of Living With Your Best Friends

This past September, I started my sophomore year of college by moving in with three of my closest friends and I have enjoyed every second of it.

As I was getting ready to move out of the dorms, I had heard horror stories of friends who room together and end up despising one another. I was nervous about risking the relationships with the people that I loved. Fortunately, the exact opposite has happened.

At just 19 years old, we all moved into our very first apartment. Together, we have learned to cook, clean, pay bills, and grow into ourselves. Several months and many misadventures later, our apartment is now a home.

If you live or have ever lived with your favorite people, you'll be able to relate to this.

1. Home is home base

The apartment is the nucleus of your lives. Roommates, friends, significant others, and classmates all come and go on a daily basis. You know that someone will always be waiting for you when you get home.

2. Every night is a chance for a dance party

"Hey Alexa, can you play 'Boots' by Kesha?" (No? Just us?)

3. Each meal is a bonding experience

You learn each other's favorite recipes and concocted some of your own. Cooking dinner together is just a chance to hear about everyone's day while trying not to set off the smoke detector.

4. You always will have someone to go to events with

Group costumes, formal dates, and party pals are a given.

5. Your living room is your favorite spot

I know it sounds kind of silly that a room made up of cheap brown couches and and over-sized bean bag could be among by favorite spots but it is where so many of my most precious memories were made. It's where we watch our favorite shows, gather with friends, and spend most of our time together. I look forward to seeing my roommates waiting for me when I arrive home after a long day.

6. The best part about living with your friends is that you're comfortable around each other

Something that might have been embarrassing around strangers becomes a funny story when it's with friends. You're curious and care for one another. You know everything (and I mean everything) about each other and you still love them.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
