The remake of 'Beauty and the Beast' is an amazing movie. I am not usually one for movie remakes, however, this movie was definitely the exception. I have seen the movie three different times in theaters (shoutout to the Radford Theatre for providing cheap movies for college students) and it gets better and better every time. Here are some life lessons that you can learn from watching this movie - original or remake.

1. Family is everything.

Belle was willing to trade places with her father not knowing what was going to happen to her - only knowing that she would do whatever it takes to protect her father. She felt responsible since she was the reason that her father ended up in the cell - because he promised her a rose.

2. It's about what's on the inside not about what's on the outside.

Belle was shocked about what the beast looked like at first. She was frightened by his appearance and in the beginning of the film was judging him solely based off of what he looked like. However, we all know how the story ends...

3. You can find love in strange places

Belle went into the castle with the sole mission of trying to get her father back from whatever took him but ended up falling in love with the beast. This was definitely not something that she expected, but she ultimately got everything that she wanted by the end of the movie.

4. Being a vain person won't get you what you want out of life.

Gaston is in my opinion, one of the most annoying characters in this movie. His obsession with himself is through the roof. He thinks that just because he desires Belle that he is going to get her but she doesn't want him - in fact, her exact words are "Can you imagine me the wife of that boorish brainless?"

5. Sometimes there are better things out there when you take a chance.

6. Stand up for yourself.

Throughout the movie, you can tell how Belle changes and becomes more an independent character. She doesn't want the safe things that have been planned for her future but rather she wants to pave her own path. She learns throughout the movie how to stand up for herself and others.

I could go on and on about how this is my new favorite movie and all of the life lessons that can be learned from this movie. I will shamelessly sing this word for word and will probably watch this movie another hundred times. I am a romantic and like when I was a child, this movie gives me hope that romance isn't totally gone from the world. Plus this one has the addition of Emma Watson who is the most gorgeous and talented actress.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
