It's October so you know what that means, HALLOWEEN!! When I was a kid, I always looked forward to Halloween because who doesn't want to dress up and get a bag full of candy? Now that I'm older, though, I'm more into being scared than getting the candy. I live for the scary movies being played over and over again on TV, and the countless number of haunted houses all over the place. So in honor of this Halloween season, here are 6 haunted houses you should add to your bucket list.
1. Universal Studios' Halloween Horror Nights-- Orlando, FL
I live for theme parks so Universal's annual Halloween event is definitely something I want to attend. They have haunted houses, live Halloween shows and even some creepy creatures walking around, including themes from TV and movies such as American Horror Story, The Shining, Saw, and much more!
2. Six Flags Over Georgia's Fright Fest-- Atlanta, GA
Another great amusement park, Six Flags over Georgia holds an annual Halloween event called Fright Fest. Like Universal Studios, Six Flags features haunted houses and special "scare zones" throughout the park. The daytime is relatively calm, but the real scares come out at night!
3. Sloss Fright Furnace-- Birmingham, AL
Sloss is rumored to be truly haunted, as it used to be a steel mill where hundreds died in industrial accidents. There are two scare options, a 15-minute tour of the area around the house or a 30-minute tour inside the haunted house. They say that along with their added special effects, you may see a real ghost too!
4. Haunted Web of Horrors-- Memphis, TN
I have actually been to this one before, but they will have four haunted houses available instead of just their normal two so I would gladly go back to visit the two new ones. The two I attended were "Tormented" and "Dark Matter," and I loved them both. I had a great experience here and the haunted houses had me on my toes!
5. Nightmare Chambers-- Fairhope, AL
This is my hometown and somehow I've never been to Nightmare Chambers. It's taken on many different locations in the town over the years, but it always seems to spark the scares out of everyone!
6. Warehouse 31-- Pelham, AL
Warehouse 31 includes not only a haunted house experience, but you can also participate in a 3D experience called "Freak Show." Warehouse 31 calls itself "the most terrifying haunted house" so I'll have to see for myself!
I'm definitely one for the thrills so all of these haunted houses spark my interest. I hope that I can visit all of these and more at some point in my lifetime. If you're an adrenaline junky, you should add all 6 of these to your bucket list too!
