The most wonderful time of the year is upon us! As fall dwindles to a close and cuffing season is in full swing, you and your boo are in need of cute date ideas. The pools are closed, amusement parks are shut down, the beach is freezing, and it seems that the only plausible thing to do is stay in and cuddle. Cuddling up next to your love is nice, I'll admit, but don't resign yourself to only that all winter! Here's a few ideas to get y'all out of the house and enjoying this cold weather.
1. Go to the city and wander around.
Just walking around underneath the twinkling lights, bundled up in a coat, arm in arm with your significant other will warm your heart this cold season. Enjoy what your local city has to offer during the cold season when there are less tourists and more adventures to seek out!
2. Take a drive around some neighbourhoods and admire the Christmas decorations.
You and your boo can have a laugh over the horrendously overdone lawn bursting with at least three Santas, four elves, and an elaborate Nativity scene. The sights each individual house has to offer will put you and your love in high spirits, and probably inspire you to pull out the tree from the attic in the process.
3. Spend the day having a Christmas movie marathon!
I know I said to go outside and explore, but you can't pass up a good cheesy Christmas movie. Crawl into some flannel pajamas, make some hot cocoa, light the fire place, order takeout, turn on the Christmas lights, and binge watch classics such as "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," "Elf," and "The Nightmare Before Christmas". By the end of the day, you two won't want to get off the couch!
4. Take a trip to Busch Gardens and enjoy Christmas Town at night.
From personal experience, Christmas Town is definitely worth the money and the trip to get there. The twinkling lights and a cup of warm cider while cheery music floats through the air will fill you with warmth. Even if wandering around enjoying the sights isn't really your thing, you'll at least be able to hold your partner's hand as you ride one of the several rides that are still open during this season!
5. Engage your partner in a snowball fight.
Make sure to do it when they least expect it. When they're carrying in groceries and are completely distracted, stealthy pelt a surprise snowball at them. This is sure to engage a frostbitten, rosy-cheeked battle that will ensure until you both get so cold you'll have no choice but to cuddle up and get warm again.
6. Drag your boo to the local art museum or botanical garden.
If it's too cold to even bear the outdoors, I'd recommend visiting your local art museum and enjoy the beauty of another's work. Art museum dates are awesome at any time of the year, but there's something about when the snow is falling outside and you're indoors admiring something awe-striking. If you don't have a local art museum or aren't really in the mood, bundle up with your boo and go see the snow glistening off decorated trees at a botanical garden. It's likely to be considerably empty as most of the visitors are there to see alive plants. Even if most of the flowers are dead or dormant, your love will be very much alive as you trod along the frosty, empty grounds of this beautiful place.
Doing these things with friends or even alone is lovely, but there's just something so enchanting when you spend this time alongside the one you love the most. I hope you draw inspiration from these date ideas, and happy holidays!
