1. Pick a good roommate.
If you are anywhere near senior year you have already hard how terrible of an idea it is to room with one of your close friends. But that's not always the case, rooming with one of your good friends can be a lot of fun. What you don't want to do is room with someone you are only okay friends with. Because it makes it a lot harder to put up with them when they do something you don't like. Also, don't be afraid to get a random roommate! It is a great way to meet new people.
2. MEETING NEW PEOPLE IS HARD!
assets.rbl.msThis is especially true if you go to a state school, because everyone stays in their own bubble and it feels weird to meet new people. The best way to meet new people is to go out to events and talk to a lot of people. I promise you will meet at least one new person, and a lot of times that person can introduce you to a bunch of other people as well.
3. Laundry is brutal.
FlickrPeople in my building run empty dryers to save them for when their washers are ready. The people that do this are not only geniuses but also terrifying. Be prepared and be careful.
4. Get a rug.
This isn't really something to know I guess but it is definitely something you should do. University housing floors will get gross pretty soon and having a rug that you can easily vacuum is helpful. Also when you have friends over they don't have to sit on your disgusting floor.
5. There are a lot of free things that you can access on campus
Well not really free, it's paid for in part by your tuition. The gym and other facilities are free of charge and you would be stupid not to at least try to go once or twice.
6. College food isn't horrible
Okay some college food isn't horrible. And that's why you should go to NC state because we get one of the greatest meal plans ever! Imagine being able to get Starbucks on your dining plan 12 times a week. Ya I know, my school is kind of great.
Good luck!!!!!
