5 Truths Of Senior Year: College Edition

Senior year of college is a great time for reflection — "reflection" meaning absolute terror. From job searching to perfecting your resume and interview skills, senior year brings along a lot of different emotions; have no fear — you aren't alone.

The first truth of senior year of college...

1. You will panic/lose it at some point.

C'mon, it's inevitable. You're preparing to enter the workforce or attend graduate school. It's only natural to absolutely lose it at one point or another. Keep in mind, J.K. Rowling was broke at 23 and Tina Fey was working at a YMCA... you're gunna be fine.

2. You will likely call your mom or dad more often.

The truth of it all is, well, they know exactly how you're feeling. And it's likely they've got some pretty good advice for you, too. At this point in time, don't be afraid to call when you need to... even if it's after a really long, bad day. Chances are, they'll be happy to hear from you regardless.

3. Searching for jobs is absolutely terrifying -- and exciting.

There're two ends of the spectrum here: you're either absolutely terrified to enter the workforce, or you're absolutely ready to leave college. Truth be told, searching for jobs is scary -- what do I type in the Indeed search box? Do I take the first job I interview for? What do I even accept for pay? Will I hate my job? When do I get trained? What am I even doing? All of these thoughts are normal, and frankly, expected. Sit back, relax, and sip your wine as you search for that next step -- you'll find it.

4. Some of your best adventures will happen during this year.

Whether that means just simply learning more about your interests, likes, & dislikes, or traveling to new and exciting places, senior year is a great time to find out more about yourself and who you want to be. And, you'll likely partake in a lot of these adventures with some good friends because #squad or whatever.

5. Family and friends will ask what your plans are -- and it's okay to not have any.

You've got a lot on your plate as it is, so when family and friends ask what your plans are post-grad, don't be afraid to say you haven't figured it out yet. No one has it all together, no matter what they say.

Either way, senior year is an amazing time. Take it all in your final semesters in college, spend as much time as you can with your real friends, and enjoy yourself. Life's too short to take seriously anyway.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
