55 (Very) Small Things To Be Happy About

Originally, writing down one all things that makes me happy was just something that I have been doing every day for the last month or so before I go to bed. However, doing this has caused me to realize how refreshing it is to take a moment and appreciate the small things that make you happy in life. I encourage you to do the same thing, and even if you don't write them down, just take a moment to recognize them. If you're in need of some inspiration, or a little pick me up to remind you how impactful the little things can be on your life, here is a list of a few things that do so for me.

1. Coffee

2. The taste of brownie batter

3. Waking up early to watch the sunrise

4. Part of you always being a child

5.Things you don't have to work to enjoy

6. An ideal place for the perfect picnic

7. The sound of wind through the trees in the fall

8. Driving under an overpass during a storm

9. Listening for the sound of the key in a lock

10. Getting a new job

11. Sitting by a fireplace after you've been in the cold

12. Walking around the house in your favorite t-shirt

13. Sunday afternoons in the summertime

14. Homemade soup

15. The mountains

16. Headache medicine

17. Chocolate ice cream

18. The way laundry detergent smells

19. Two seats next to each other at a crowded movie theater

20. Winding country backroads

21. Dandelions

22. New York City

23. Toasting marshmallows

24. Putting up a pumpkin on the front porch

25. Buying flowers

26. Sun-kissed shoulders and the first day of the summer spent at the lake

28. Living with the knowledge that you've done your best

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
