Brothers aren’t so bad

5 Reasons Why I LOVE Being the Only Girl

I have four siblings, all of which are boys. And to top that off, I’m the middle child. But it’s better than anything and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. And here’s why:

1. Nobody to steal my clothes

Nothing beats the fact that no one takes your clothes and leaves them MIA for weeks. When you just have brothers, THEY have to worry about you taking their hoodies. It’s pretty great.

2. Sports

You get to grow up around sports. All four of my brothers play(ed) sports my whole life, which means I know A LOT about sports. That always comes in handy when talking to a group of guys. (Or when someone thinks that since I’m a girl, I know nothing.) But little do they know, I probably know more than them.

3. NO DRAMA

Boys don’t have the drama that comes with girls. I’ve had my fair share of female friends who, indeed, caused A LOT of drama. When you’re socially awkward, like me, and don’t like attention, drama is the LAST thing you want. Boys' biggest drama is who is the better athlete.

4. When you’re the only girl, YOU get all the cute clothes

Being the only girl with four brothers, I tend to get a lot of cute clothes. My mom can’t exactly make my brothers wear cute dresses or shop for them too well, anyway.

5. No guys want to hurt you

As annoying as the intimidation can be, it’s pretty great having scary brothers. No SMART guy wants to do anything to hurt you. The dumb ones don’t even realize what’s going on. Brothers are protective and it’s pretty dang great.

As much as I hated not having a sister when I was younger — nobody to talk about boys with or do their hair, etc. — I LOVE having four brothers and no sisters. It’s helped shape me into the kick-butt girl that I am today. I take no crap from dumb guys and know sports better than most, all thanks to my brothers.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
