53 Questions I Have For My Generation
Daily Dot

Millennials have been receiving so much flak for everything we do. Sometimes I don’t know if I fit in with people in our generation, and I certainly have a lot of questions for my generation.

1. What the hell is “talking?”

2. Why don’t we just call it what it is? Why can’t we just say dating?

3. Why do we complicate things?

4. Why do we care so much about what other people do? Why do we care what people listen to, eat, watch, etc?

5. Why are we happier online than in real life?

6. Why doesn't anyone talk on the phone anymore? (I love picking up the phone. It so much easier—especially when making plans.)

7. Why don't people hang out with their families anymore?

8. Why do we have to document every moment of our lives?

9. Why do we falsely recreate moments to get it on camera?

10. Will we actually raise our kids without technology like we say we want to?

11. Why do people actually care who views their stories?

12. Why do people actually care how many followers they have?

13. Why do we only feel validated in the form of likes?

14. Can we agree to put down our phones while hanging out while others / during a meal?

15. Why are we all chasing the same "idea" of perfection?

16. What does 'on fleek' mean? And why do we say it?

17. Why do we describe things as “lit”?

18. And what is “bougie?”

19. Why don't we read anymore?

20. Why are people afraid to say what they feel?

21. Why do we slut shame?

Why are we so concerned with people's sex lives?

22. And why do people care about other people’s sexual orientation and/or preferences?

23. Are we going to acknowledge climate change?

24. Are we going to do our part to help the environment?

25. Are we going to attempt to make positive changes in the world?

26. Why aren't we all registered to vote?

27. Will we open our minds and explore new cultures?

28. Will we try to break down the stereotypes we’ve been surrounded by our entire lives by learning about others?

29. Why are we so dependent on technology?

30. Can we try harder to lessen our dependence on our phones?

31. Did you just assume my gender? (I'm sorry... I had to.)

32. Why do people have “sides” and “mains?”

33. Who decided that 140 characters is enough to say how we feel?

34. Why do people do dumb stuff to go viral?

35. And why do we make stupid/talentless people famous?

36. Why do we all fanaticize the idea of getting rich quickly?

37. Why do guys get drunk and jump off of roofs onto folding tables?

38. Why do people think that getting drunk on a roof is a good idea?

39. Why do people want to viral so badly?

40. Why are people called basic just for drinking coffee?

41. Why is calling people “basic” a thing in general?

42. Will our Bachelors’ degrees be worthless?

43. How long will it take us to pay off our thousands in student loans?

44. Why do people think that we’re the “crybaby generation” when we have faced a lot of criticism and realize that we have to work hard for what we want?

45. Why are we so quick to judge?

46. Why are addicted to binging streamed TV and movies?

47. Why are we obsessed with turning everything into a meme?

48. Why would we rather stay inside than going outside on adventures?

49. Why is college so much harder and stressful for our generation than for other generations? And why is it so much more expensive?

50. Why do we have to work so hard to prove ourselves?

51. Why does it seem like we have so much nostalgia? Why would only 90's kids remember?

52. Which bear is best? (We're pretty good at TV and movie references)

53. What are we going to do to change our bad reputation?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
