  1. You used to text me good morning and good night every day.
  2. You used to call me just to hear my voice
  3. You used to buy me flowers
  4. You used to just sit around, not caring if we went out and did anything
  5. You used to drive to my house early before the sun rose and drove back late after the sun set
  6. You used to play that old guitar
  7. You used to listen to old music
  8. You used to always want to be near me
  9. You used to drive me around with no destination
  10. You used to love sweet tea with me
  11. You used to not care about the gym
  12. You used to talk about a future that included me
  13. You used to make me little crafts
  14. You used to write me notes
  15. You used to pick me up even though I hated it
  16. You used to open the car door for me
  17. You used to make me sit in the middle seat so you could hold me while driving
  18. You used to hold my hand
  19. You used to cook dinner with me
  20. You used to be interested in my far off ideas
  21. You used to go to school with me
  22. You used to go to my sport games
  23. You used to want children with me
  24. You used to want to spend the rest of our days together
  25. You used to wipe my tears away and know exactly what to say
  26. You used to feel some type of way for me
  27. You used to go up north with me
  28. You used to carve our initials into that tree
  29. You used to drink only with me
  30. You used to want to teach me all the outdoorsy things
  31. You used to calm my anxiety attacks
  32. You used to help me escape from arguments at home
  33. you used to sneak out of your house just to see me
  34. You used to take pictures with me
  35. You used to let me take pictures of you
  36. You used to let me trace on your skin
  37. You used to kiss me
  38. You used to be affectionate towards me
  39. You used to take care me when illness struck
  40. You used to watch the fireworks with me
  41. You used to teach me how to drive a stick shift
  42. You used to curb stomp my depression clouds
  43. You used to sing with me
  44. You used to want to experience life with me
  45. You used to protect me from awful people
  46. You used to be my best friend
  47. You used to hold my heart with such gentleness
  48. You used to be filled with hate then saw the good in the world with me
  49. You used to do so much...

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
