The holidays are a very chaotic time. It is a time filled with yummy food and loved ones. Presents are handed around, and although presents are always exciting to receive, it is important to remember to be thankful for everything else too. Non-material things deserve just as much recognition as the presents you receive, and sometimes it is easy to let those things slip your mind. As the holidays come to an end, here are some of the other things I am thankful for this time of the year!

1. My educational opportunities

2. My parents

3. Laughter to the point of belly aches

4. My siblings

5. My health

6. My dog Louie

7. Kind strangers

8. My sorority sisters

9. Music

10. Spending time with loved ones

11. My job

12. The sound of children laughing

13. Making new friends (shout out to you Callie, Amy, Brea, and Shawna)

14. Being warm and cozy

15. Waking up today

16. Professors who are understanding

17. Netflix

18. My big Maddie

19. Soothing scents

20. My old friends who have stuck with me

21. New opportunities

22. Spontaneous decisions

23. Feeling loved

24. Getting to live in the state of Minnesota

25. The season of fall

26. Being creative

27. Younglife Capernaum

28. Not having to worry about when I will get my next meal

30. Being able to be a sister in Alpha Xi Delta

There are so many more things that could have been added to this list, and I'm sure your list is different than mine! Just remember, no matter what you receive this holiday season, nothing compares to the things that are given to you every day.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
