College is somewhat like walking a tightrope while juggling and eating all at the same time. While in college I was constantly searching for resources to help me finish paper after paper, test after test, and project after project.
Luckily, I had mentors provide the best resources to me along the way. I've always loved a saying that says, "If you know something, then teach it to someone else". So that's what I am going to do!
Here are resources that were most beneficial in my 4 years of college:
1. Textbookly
This site is pure magic. The biggest mistake you can make in college is buying textbooks from the bookstore. They are outrageously overpriced and even renting the book is way more than every other seller. Textbookly.com is a search engine where you type in the ISBN number and it will give you a list of all the places to purchase/rent the book. It will also show you the lowest price for either renting, buying new, or buying used. Y'all this site saved me so much money. And I never had to purchase a book from the bookstore.
2. Amazon
I feel like everyone's obsession with Amazon is similar to everyone's obsession with Target. But c'mon, Target really is the best. Amazon has endless resources for college students. For example, Amazon Textbooks, which offers a variety of textbooks and even separates them by major! *Insert praise hands emoji here* Amazon Prime is another resource where college students receive a discount and get free 2-day shipping! So when you buy the wrong textbook for the first day of class, you can get the right one asap!
3. Grammarly
I didn't know about this until my senior year and I'm honestly worried how I survived without it. Grammarly is an app to install with Google Chrome. It's like spellcheck, but a heck-of-a-lot better. The biggest benefit to using Grammarly is it updated regularly, which is why it is the "World's Most Accurate Online Grammer Checker". With the countless papers, I had to write this was the biggest lifesaver.
4. Quizlet
If you're taking an online class and you don't know about Quizlet, then someone hasn't lead you in on a secret. Long gone are the days where you studied for a test by carrying 100 index cards wrapped up in a rubber band. Instead, Quizlet is an app where you can make your own flashcards right on your phone. It also allows you to share your study cards which is great for those friends who are too lazy to write flashcards. You can also find flashcards that are already made by other users. Most are the exact same questions as online tests. Hallelujah!
5. Google Scholar
How many research papers have you written where you aren't permitted to use online websites? Sometimes there isn't enough time to head to the library and reading an entire book. Google Scholar provides the best resources that include articles, books, short excerpts, interview, and audio. The best part about using Google Scholar is that the citations are right there to copy and paste in your bibliography. It holds an abundance of scholarly articles that won't make your professors cringe.
I would love to hear about the resources you used in college! During those 4 years, you are open to any resource just to ensure that diploma is hanging on a wall someday.
