I can't tell you how many eye rolls have been shot my way. They mostly come after I've corrected a friend on their grammar mistakes. Don't get me wrong, I am no linguistics expert, but there are still so many times when I see people my age, or even way older than me, using improper grammar that literally makes me cringe. Here's what it's actually like being a grammar snob.
1. Thesaurus.com is your most visited website.
The words "cool" and "interesting" just aren't good enough for you. You're always trying to expand your vocabulary and find new ways to express your feelings. Finding new words isn't just fun, it's agreeable.
2. The asterisk is the most used symbol on your phone.
Half of your texts with friends consist of you correcting them on incorrect spelling or using the wrong form of a word. My personal favorite is "you're**"
3. Scrolling through social media will always end in rage.
And no, it's not a political post that sends you into a frenzy. The worst thing in the whole entire universe is going down your timeline and seeing a paragraph with absolutely no punctuation, people incorrectly using words, or misspelling words. Did you even graduate from middle school? Has no one thought to correct you? Do you even notice what is wrong with this post?
4. Your friends are constantly annoyed with you correcting them.
They know you're going to correct them. They know you will comment on some aspect of the text they just sent you. They know that when they send you a paragraph about the fight they got into with their boyfriend last night, you will probably respond only with a spelling correction.
5. You get so frustrated with yourself when you make a mistake.
Obviously, you're not the only one who messes up from time to time. When you go back and read over a post on social media, school paper, or anything else and see a grammar mistake that should not have been made you will beat yourself up over it for hours.
