6 Ways To Travel Cheaper As A Broke College Student

I love traveling and going to new places, but I'm also a broke college student.

I'm just guessing here, but most likely "Travel more" is your New Year resolution. Am I right? If it's not, you probably still want to travel and explore new places more anyway.

Here are some helpful tips I have picked up either on the web or by experience.

1. Travel light

Not only does this make traveling easier, it cuts down on how much you spend while trip planning. You no longer worry about what clothes to buy or what products to use because you have less space. It also makes flying way easier when all you have is a carry-on and allows you to take cheaper flights

2. Find your flight using an incognito window on your computer

Internet sites are sneaky. The more you search flight prices, the higher the prices will go. Using an incognito window means you don't have to worry about that. You should also check out this article for more advice on how to save money while flying.

3. Road trip

If flying isn't for you, you can always drive to it (or take a train or bus). Make sure you bring some friends to keep you company or go all by yourself. Planning a road trip can be tricky, but Furkot has you covered. You can input various destinations, your car mileage, where you want to stop, how you're traveling, if you're traveling with pets and a bunch of other factors. Using all of this, it will help you map out the perfect route including hotels or campgrounds, gas stations, and places to stop for food. I used this website to plan out my trip to Italy and it was great!

4. Take a day trip

Browse the internet or ask your friends about awesome places near where you live; chances are you don't live too far from something amazing. You might have to travel some hours, but won't it be worth it to see something new? I am the day trip queen, to be honest. It's how I managed to explore most of the Big Sur Coast while attending community college.

5. Same some money

I am the first to admit that I am absolutely terrible at saving money. I make some and I spend it immediately. But there's the $5 bill challenge going around and it kind of seems like a smart way to save cash. All you do is save all the $5 bills you make or receive as change AND DON'T USE THEM FOR A YEAR or something. You might have to reach into it every now and then because we are broke students after all, but only for emergencies. Of course, there are probably other ways to save money as well, but I'm terrible at it so...

6. Get a travel credit card

This is more of a long-term thing, but if you find a credit card for an airline you enjoy and it has a great point system and perks: get it and use it. Use it for practically everything. The points and perks will add up and you will basically be getting free flights and decent hotel saves. This article has a bunch of great advice on travel credit cards if you scroll down.

I love traveling and going to new places, but I'm also a broke ass college student. Luckily, there are ways to travel without spending a lot of money. If you don't mind roughing it quite a bit, there's a whole lot of traveling you can do. Probably even within your state or province. What are you waiting for? Get going.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
