Summer is right around the corner, which means the sun is looking to kiss your skin - a lot. Aggressively. Even when it's hiding behind the clouds. No matter where you are. It's important to keep our skin protected, hydrated and healthy during the summer months, so here are five ways to keep it in check!
1. Moisturize before AND after sun exposure
We all know we should put on sunscreen. Obviously, it's the most effective way to prevent skin cancer. But moisturizing is also important. It also acts as a protective layer. And I know, after being out in the sun sweating and clogging up pores, it's the last thing anyone wants to do. Shower and freshen up after sun exposure and when you're done, apply hydrating moisturizer. Seriously. It will prevent skin flaking from the sun sucking the water out of your skin, and in the long run, you won't need to worry about excessive wrinkles!
2. Drink Apple Cider Vinegar to prevent mosquito bites
(Sings like Mary Poppins) Just a spoonful of apple cider vinegar helps the mosquitoes not bite! Well, actually three spoonfuls a day. After about three days, it starts working, and you'll notice the mosquitoes will definitely not think you're as sweet as you once were!
3. Use nature face masks
Mix together plain Greek yogurt, honey, and turmeric. All of these ingredients offer different, skin-loving things: brightening, acne-prevention and skin-tone evening.
4. Exfoliate
Believe it or not, exfoliating your dry, summer skin once or twice a week can help regenerate new, healthier skin. (And of course it helps exposed the pretty, sun-kissed skin!)
5. Sanitize your devices
This really goes for any time of year. Your phone is said to be dirtier than a Subway bathroom. All these germs get on your hands and when you touch your face...ew. Wiping it down a few times a day with Clorox wipes can help kill these invisible, gross pests.
Our skin protects us from the elements year round, the least we can do for it is pay extra attention to it during the harshest season!
