Let’s face it, as much as we try to achieve that New Year's resolution, going to the gym daily is not fun. It’s easy to tell yourself you’re going to exercise every single day of 2017, but in reality, it can be tough to find the motivation to work out. However, exercise does not necessarily mean cardio. In fact, getting fit can actually be fun if you approach it the right way.
1. Just Dance
Sometimes you just can’t make the time in your busy schedule to hit the gym. As long as you have a Wii, Xbox or even YouTube, Just Dance is the best way to burn calories without having to leave your house. Dance the afternoon away to your favorite songs and feel a sense of accomplishment as you hit both five stars and 10,000 steps.
2. Hiking
If you love the outdoors, running endless miles on the sidewalk is not your only option for working out. Instead, grab a few friends and hit the local trails for some quality exercise. You won’t realize the amount of calories being burned because you’re having fun talking with friends on a small adventure.
3. Zumba
A fast-paced, encouraging dance class is bound to put you in a great mood while exercising at the same time. With the music blaring and everyone smiling, it doesn’t matter how skilled of a dancer you are because Zumba is truly a great workout for everyone. Throughout the course of the class, the intensity increases and you’ll have more fun breaking a sweat than you ever thought possible.
4. Trampoline
No matter how old you are, jumping on a trampoline is always a fun time, plus it burns calories at the same time. If you don’t own one for yourself, try out a local indoor trampoline park, like Sky Zone, where the jumping possibilities are endless. Whether it's a game of dodgeball or flipping into a foam pit, you’ll break a sweat in no time, and enjoy every second of it.
5. Skiing
Not everyone lives near snow (or water), but skiing sure is the vacation that keeps you in shape. Flying down the slopes is exciting and healthy at the same time. You definitely wouldn’t want to pass up the opportunity to burn more calories than a boring run on the gym treadmill. Afterwards, you will have no regrets for that delicious, hard-earned dinner.
Working out isn’t easy for everyone. The best way to accomplish a goal of staying fit is to exercise with the motivation of having fun. Now’s the perfect time to try a new way of exercising you won’t regret.
