For those of you who didn't know, September will be a very loaded month. We will experience two new moons, two lunar Eclipse and Mercury will be in Retrograde for most of the month. In addition, September 9th ends a 9 year cycle of our lives, which culminates 9 years of lessons. This month will be a significant time for purging, letting go of old and toxic behavior and starting over. As this energy is released from our bodies, we will be left feeling depleted, tired, sore and confused. In addition, Mercury Retrograde will encourage odd situations to take place around you. Do any of these things sound familiar? Have you been eating or sleeping excessively? Feeling angry or frustrated with no explanation? Or even making impulsive decisions you wouldn't usually make? This is all due to the alignment of the planets this month. It's safe to say that it's important to protect your magic extra carefully this month. Here's a few tips on how you could do so:

1) Sleep

Sleep is necessary even more this month. You may find yourself needing to sleep more than ever before. I say give your body what it wants. With all the energy that is leaving your body, you need to put more energy back into it. If you are not getting at least 8-9 hours of sleep a night, make it a priority starting now.

2) Replenish

Are you filling your body with enough water and vitamins? Try drinking at least 3 glasses of water a day accompanied with a fruit and fresh vegetables. This intake of healthy foods will also aid in a good night's rest.

3) Check-in

Check-in on yourself and your loved ones. Everyone is going to be feeling it this month. When you go back to your home after a long day, take a few moments to reflect on your day and prepare for the next. Reach out to those that are close to you and encourage them to do the same. With everything you may be experiencing, it might be difficult to lend your hand to someone else because you'll be so focused on protecting your own energy. Accept that this is okay and necessary.

4) Be familiar

As complicated as everything is right now, there's no reason to complicate it further. Do things that you are already familiar with and has always brought you joy. It's not wise to make huge changes during this time of confusion because you may regret it later on.

5) Release

I am always writing about the importance of balance. If you begin to feel overwhelmed or confused, release this energy in healthy ways. Take a yoga class, meditate, write in a journal or partake in guided breathing exercise (there are many apps available for this).

I wish you all the best this month and understand that once it is over, you would reap the benefits of the lessons you were subconsciously taught.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
