Never did I ever think I would turn into my mother. Now that I’m away at college, I’m starting to realize that in more ways than one, I’m just like my my mom.

1. HGTV is my favorite TV channel

When I was little, I used to hate when my mom would have on HGTV. She would never let me change the channel and I despised every show that came on. Now, I live for HGTV. I keep it on for hours and I even call my mom and ask her if she’s the newest episode of Property Brothers

2. My Swiffer Wet Jet is my best friend

I honestly never understood why my mom got excited over cleaning supplies. Now that I’m doing the cleaning all by myself, I love my Swiffer. It can clean everything. I honestly get excited about new cleaning supplies now just like my mom.

3. I plan

In high school, I used to just roll with the punches. Now that I’m on my own, I plan almost everything. When I do my laundry, when I need groceries, when to stop being lazy, etc. I never understood why my mother needed to plan almost every single thing, but now that I’m on my own, I don’t think I would be able to get through the day if I didn’t plan.

4. Grocery shopping can be tough

This may sound ridiculous, but if I’m being 100% honest, the first time I went to buy groceries I bought junk food. When you call the shots with what you eat, it can be a good or a bad thing. I quickly realized that I couldn’t live off Gushers and frozen food and bought healthier items next time I went

5. Communication is key

Communicating with my family never used to be super important to me considering I saw them every single day. My mom used to always get into a fuss if I didn’t communicate with her periodically throughout the day. I now understand why. Communicating with your family is so important while you’re away at school. Since you don’t see them every day, a phone call sometimes can brighten one’s day. Now when I go out with my friends we always communicate so we don’t get separated or that no one ends up walking home by themselves.

I never thought I would turn out like my mother because of how much we banged heads when I lived at home, but now I’m really glad that I’m like her in more ways than one. I guess I got it from my momma.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
