5 Very Real Struggles Of Hell Week

It's the best, yet most stressful week.

As I am typing this, I am in the midst of HELL WEEK... the worst/best week of any show you do. It's filled with long, tiring rehearsals, aching feet, putting together a great show, and getting super close to all your cast mates.

For this year's spring musical, my school is doing "GREASE". This is my last show in high school, and I am so excited for this show to come together and turn into the amazing show we all know we can pull off.

Because I am in the middle of tech week right now, I think it's the perfect time to complain about all of the struggles us theatre lovers have to deal with in this tiring, yet fun week.

1. Being the most tired and stressed out you have been all year.

Tech week is filled with long, tiring rehearsals that somehow leads to less sleep. Even though the rehearsals are all afternoon and you spend all of rehearsal dancing and dancing and you're tired as heck, you still can't fall asleep when you get home.

When you get into bed, all you can think of is everything you need to do for tomorrow, how much your feet hurt and how little sleep you're going to get. That leads to being so much more stressed than you were before.

2. Lots of dancing and very sore feet.

As I said before, this week is filled with dancing your heart out for hours on end and barely getting a break because you're RUNNING A SHOW. When your feet finally feel better the next day, you have to do the same thing all over again.

3. Not being able to do homework because you don’t have time.

Having so much rehearsal time means not having much time at home to get the LOADS of homework that your teachers, OF COURSE, had to assign THIS week of all weeks. Yes, I get home by 9:30 every night, but by the time I'm out of the shower and have time to start my homework, I'm already half asleep.

4. Trying to figure out how to fit in when you’re going to eat.

This week is filled with living off of fast food, vending machine snacks, and eating while you're getting ready.

5. Feeling like you’re getting sick.

I don't know why, but it seems like every tech week, I start to feel sick. So, in order to fix that, I start taking Vitamin C tablets and drinking as much tea and water as I can, to get rid of any illness I think I may be getting. The only thing worse than ensemble getting sick is the LEADS starting to get sick as well. We all stress so much that we start to get sick and then we stress about getting sick.

Tech week is definitely one of my favorite weeks of the year. Yes, it is very stressful and tiring, but it is also so fun spending so much time with your favorite people doing your favorite thing. If you have never done a show, I suggest trying it.

If you think you won't be good enough, still try it because you may be surprised! This year, so many new people joined the program at my school and wound up getting LEADS. They were people you never thought would do a show and they surprised us all!

Even though hell week is so stressful, when it's over, it's actually kind of sad. You go from working on something for so long to not doing it at all, and you don't really know what to do with your life when it's over.

Overall, being a part of the drama club has been an amazing experience. I grew as a person and I made some new friends. I will miss this drama program and hell week here, but I hope to have some more hell weeks in college!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
