Being in College Park, MD provides so many opportunities for fun dates! So, boys: you have no excuse not to take the girl you are talking to out! I know a lot of people who would love some fun, simple CP dates, including me.

1. McKeldin Mall

There are constantly people sitting on McKeldin Mall when the weather is nice out. People play quidditch, walk on ropes between trees, relax in hammocks, and sometimes even swim in the fountain. You could use this social hub to your advantage and take your date to the mall! You guys could have a picnic, listen to music, play a sport, or just relax. This is a perfect low key date for that person you may be too shy to explicitly ask out on a date. You'll even get the opportunity to squirrel watch on your date- definitely a memorable experience for both parties.

2. Big Ten athletics

One of many perks of being a Terrapin is being in the Big Ten conference. This ensures many entertaining athletic events. There's a game for any sports lover! Even people who may not be the most sport-savvy can enjoy being in in the student section. There is so much fun and spirit at these events that you would have your date smiling and laughing the entire time! Sporting events are fun and free, making them an amazing date idea!

3. Busboys and Poets

If you have a car on campus or are willing to walk to Hyattsville, the perfect place for a dinner date is Busboys and Poets. The food is absolutely phenomenal and able to be eaten by literally anyone. They are really great about catering towards people who do not eat nuts, gluten, or meat. The atmosphere in the restaurant is casual and trendy, perfect for a college student! The food is pretty well priced, but make sure to plan to wait for a little bit as this spot is pretty popular. If you take your date here, I'm sure you will have a second date.

4. Washington D.C.

With shuttles going to the College Park Metro station, you have no excuse to not explore the nation's capital! Washington D.C. has so many things you can do! A fun date would be visiting the Smithsonian Museums, the U.S. Botanical Garden, or the National Mall. All of these are free if you're ballin' on a budget! The only thing you will have to pay for is the $3 metro ride!

5. Route One

If you're a foodie, there are a ton of good food options on route one. Walk on out of the east side of campus, and explore the food College Park has to offer! Food ranges from Chipotle to Wasabi! There's an option for any craving you and your date might have. Take advantage of how close campus is to route one and all of its dining options.

While writing this, the line "always a bridesmaid never a bride" seems very relevant. If anyone wants to try out one of these dates, hit me up.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
