As hurricane Irma recently struck and evacuated me from Americas most beautiful college campus, I have been quite the traveler. Plane after plane and airport after airport, I took some time to pay attention to the people around me. I am sure many of you will be able to relate to this or maybe you even fit into one of these categories, but even if you aren't aware of the people you see, they are around you.
1. The businessman
These are people you see quite frequently wherever you are traveling. They are the men dressed in a suit carrying a satchel or the woman in a skirt and blouse. Either way, these are the sophisticated people who are always traveling. Whether it’s a meeting in the United States or a trip to China, they are always dressed to impress.
2. The worldwide traveler
This person is probably carrying a Patagonia backpack meant for hiking. This person is dressed in outfitter clothes prepared for their next hike. They are most likely traveling somewhere amazing, like Spain, Indies, Iceland, or somewhere with beautiful mountains.
3. The family pack
This is the family you see, all wearing similar clothes, either going to see family or to the beach. Most of us have been the “family” in the airport before. Families are the easiest ones to spot, they are always together. But who am I kidding, who doesn’t like an awesome family vacation to Mexico or Jamaica?
4. The individual with a service dog
We all appreciate the work service animals do for us humans. Plus who doesn’t love to pet that friendly dog at the airport? Whether they are on a leash, carried in a crate, or a purse these animals do wonderful help to humans, keeping us calm, or alerting someone when our blood sugar drops.
5. The military soldier
A man or woman in uniform always catches people’s attention, whether they are coming home to family, or leaving for deployment, you will catch a glimpse of these amazing men and women who protect our country. If you see a service member next time you are at the airport, I encourage you to shake their hand and thank them for their service. I always try to do that wherever I am, and they do appreciate it.
