Hello to all my lady friends!
We women have a terribly difficult time finding the balance between taking ourselves too seriously and not seriously enough. Sure, our society has it's own problems with the perspectives and treatments that are expected of and forced upon women, but I also think it is time to talk about some things that we can improve upon ourselves...
1. You Should Read More Books (and maybe watch a little less Netflix)
Trust me, I am ALL ABOUT the Netflix & Chill life. But knowledge truly is power, and if we have any interest in making a dent in our world then we must push ourselves to learn and grow. Let yourself get lost in a story, learn a unique skill or learn what makes great people great.
2. You're Never Going Look Like That Girl on Instagram
#sorrynotsorry. You look like you! My dear friend, you were fearfully and wonderfully made just the way you are. When we put beauty in a narrow box, we are letting the media and the ugly parts of our culture shine through. Let us be at the forefront of the fight of redefining beauty by truly loving & accepting who God created us to be.
3. You Must Support Your Girls
We must realize that girls share common ground by just being a girl! As unique as we are from one another, just by listening we learn that most of us share very similar desires and struggles. Empower the women who cross your path because in most cases "you've been there, too."
4. You're Never Going To Perfect
Hello to all of my Type-A, overachievers out there! This one is a tough one to accept because as products of a "go-getter" culture and "destination-bound" lifestyles, we look to a goal as the most important matter in our life to be achieved. From a 4.0 GPA, to a "perfect" body and all the way to landing your "dream job", we must not forget the life that is happening. While we are chasing our bigger and better things, we need to remember that perfection, in any form, is truly unattainable.
5. You Need a Tribe
If you do not have like-minded women in your life who are pushing you towards greatness, reminding you of your worthiness and making you laugh more than you ever thought you were capable of, I urge you to be on the lookout for these people. Not just the ones we have a good time with, but the ones you could call at 3am.
