The week of midterms and finals are tough for everyone. Here are a few tips to help you get that grade you've been working for.
Chewing gum
Chewing gum while studying and actually taking your exams can help with recollection. According to the Florida University of Health, “Those who chomped on gum remembered 25 to 50 percent more than people who did not chew gum."
Reward yourself
We all know we need to be prepared for our exams and study, however, if you're a procrastinator the last thing you want to do is focus on studying. If you're having trouble focusing give yourself a reward. Read one or two pages, eat a cookie or some sort of reward. (Careful with using desserts if you have a lot of studying, you know why).
Arrive Early
Getting to the exam location early always is a bonus, especially if you get ready earlier than usual and are able to take your time with getting ready in the morning. Do not study right before the exam. Doing so will only allow your memory to hold what you have just studied and hurts you in the long run.
Don't Expect Failing
Easier said than done I know, however telling yourself you can do it and that you'll pass, and visualizing yourself passing your exam, you'll have a better chance at passing, than if you just expect that you're going to fail. I have a bad habit of expecting failure and then don't end up with the grade I want.
Vocab
If you have vocab words either in other languages or just in your class, say the word 7 times along with the definition (or another language) back and forth, and that will make memorization a lot easier and quicker.
