School is starting soon and tears are forming in my eyes. But on a serious note, a new school year is a new chance to show off your brains (and survive of course). With all this comes stress, but thinking about school starting does not have to be stressful. Here are five tips to help anyone who is about to start a new school year:
1. Set goals.
I find it extremely helpful to set goals for a school year. These do not have to be just academic goals. They can be social, professional or physical goals. Setting these goals is extremely important because at the end of the semester, you can finally cross those goals off your list and feel completely accomplished.
2. Do something different.
This can be anything. Join a new club, create a new morning routine, start drinking green tea. Be ambitious and try something that you have always wanted to do or were a little anxious about doing. Taking a leap of faith about something could definitely start a new road that could lead to success.
3. Decorate differently.
I am not a person who has to go to Target when the seasons change. I am not a décor-kind-of-girl. And I do not really care for DIY's. However, this year I am going to start caring a tad bit about the way my room looks. You never know, maybe feng shui could produce a new vibe for me that can have a lasting impact on my school year. Having a new environment is definitely a major key in how you feel at the beginning of the school year.
4. Get a new favorite quote.
Everyone has a favorite quote that inspires them. I have so many that I can't even name all of them. However, finding a new favorite quote will change your attitude and your mindset. A changed mindset is so important when going into a new school year, because you have a different perspective on how to get things done.
5. Believe in yourself.
This is obviously easier said than done, but finding a new source of confidence and having faith in yourself is seriously the best way to start off a new school year. There is no doubt that this school year will have its challenges, but if you have no idea how to go about surviving this school year, you can start by telling yourself, “I can do this."
Starting the school year is the hard part, but having a positive mindset, changing a few things around and grinding 'til you own it will help to ensure your success this school year.
