I recently began my first, full-time internship. It has definitely been an adjustment, but so far I am enjoying everything about it! I'm still brand-new and learning the ropes of the workplace and job, but here are some thoughts that ran through my mind on my very first day.

1. Am I in the right place?

Learning the layout of the building, where your department is located, where the bathrooms, lunchroom, and meeting rooms are... All these things are important and need to be figured out by the second day. I had it all down by the end of my first day, so it was easy to find everything from there on.

2. How do you work this new computer?

I got a new laptop through my work. It's a PC, the complete opposite of my personal laptop which is a MacBook. It took a lot of playing around because it is so different. I am still struggling with it, but it's becoming better. The programs are also different, so it takes some teaching from supervisors and a lot of questions.

3. What should I do?

In between my first orientation meetings, I sat on my desk. I wasn't assigned anything yet because I was gone the majority of the day anyway. So I didn't really know what I needed to be doing... Because there wasn't anything to do. I decided it was a good time to learn my laptop, which did help me.

4. Do I still look decent?

Of course, when I first got to work, I probably looked put together and fresh because I had recently done my hair and makeup. Throughout the day, I experienced a lot of walking, moving around, and sweating (lol). By the time lunch rolled around, I was afraid to look in the mirror and see what a shiny face I had and messy hair.

5. What is this going to be like in a month?

This is all still very new to me, but I cannot wait to see how everything plays out. It will be amazing to reflect what has happened to me in the past month and what I have accomplished so far.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
