Senior year of high school is great you are just starting to get into college and everything is going your way. You have graduation and prom to look forward to and spending your next four years in the best college. You have that tough decision to make but no one really tells you what goes on once you are in. Here is a list of a few things that no one tells you before you go to college.
1. You Don't Know How To Study
You may think you studied in high school but you were WRONG. There were never any all nighters cramming for a test the next day. You do not know how to teach yourself 4 chapters the night before the test. High school teaches you nothing about studying for college so be ready to learn how to study.
2. Registration Is The Hunger Games
Figuring out the best strategy to register takes a while to get down. Running around looking for all your classes once it is your time will not work everything will be full. As freshmen, everything will be full anyway because you are the last on the list. May the odds be ever in your favor.
3. You Don't Need Every Textbook
There are more times than I can count where I have ordered every required text and then not even opened them. Most schools you can pre-order your books before the first day of class. Do not do it. Sometimes on the first day the teacher will have changed their mind or will just remove the book from the class all together. Wait until the first day to order books. Also use Amazon Student to find books they are way cheaper than your book store.
4. Parking Sucks
These days it is hard to think about leaving your car at home. Most kids need a job through college and want the freedom to be able to go anywhere they please. What they do not tell you before you bring your car on campus is that parking sucks. It is so expensive to have a tag and then there are no parking spots. If you are a resident there are only a few lots by all the dorms and that is it. Think wisely about bringing your car.
5. You Don't Need To Bring Everything You Own
When you come to college you will most likely be living in a dorm with a roommate. You do not need everything that is in your bedroom. I promise. Your bedroom is most likely bigger than the dorm room and two of you will be living in it. Only bring the necessary things. Coordinate with your roommate so you don't both bring the same things. You can make it comfortable and home without over crowding it.
