As crazy as this life is, it is oh so wonderful.
Life is filled with twists and turns, ups and downs, and everything in between. Sometimes it's going to throw things your way and you won't know how to label it or even how to look at it. We call these things "curveballs." The things you least expect to come your way, but for some reason do. You never ask for them, but you always have to embrace them.
What is next on your to-do list when life starts throwing things at you that you really wish it didn't? Don't know? Here's what should be on it.
1. Have peace.
Philippians 4:6-7 "Don't worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart. And God's peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus"
2. Acknowledge your feelings.
Isaiah 53:3 "He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem."
This verse discusses the pain Christ went through when you acknowledge your pain you can trust that Christ understands your pain.
3. Call on Christ.
Jer. 33:3
"Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’"4. Accept it.
James 1:19-20
"My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires"5. Choose to be thankful.
There is no way for us to avoid the curveballs that come our way. There's no way for us to know which ones are going to be thrown at them and there is definitely no way for us to handle each battle flawlessly. It is so easy to look back and say "this is what I should have done," but it seems like it is impossible for us to look at the situation now and say "this is what I will do."
It is time to start focusing on the will rather than the should. It is time to start focusing on a life that is free and accepting rather than a life that is dark and rigid.
