5 Things We All Do To Avoid Our Responsibilities

That assignment will still be there after you go to dinner with your friends.

5 Things We All Do To Avoid Our Responsibilities

In college, you learn so many valuable lessons that will stay with you for many years to come. But honestly, the main thing you learn is how to do absolutely everything at the last minute, but without anyone knowing you waited till the last minute. Whether it's that big test you need to study for, or a paper due at 11:59 p.m., either way, you're doing everything in your power to stall. We've all been there, and the art of procrastination, while not always the best option, still can be that one thing to keep you sane when you're on the edge of an educational overdose.

So here are some things that'll take up plenty of your time while avoiding your academic responsibilities. However, let me preface this list with a little *warning: procrastinating is not for everyone.* Sometimes you need ample time to complete schoolwork and it can't be done the night before, but sometimes it totally can be. If you find the balance between procrastinating and actually completing your assignments, it'll be smooth sailing until graduation.

1. Go to Chick-fil-a.

The first thing you need before you even think about starting that assignment is brain food. Obvi the go-to is chickie. A large coke and fries are a must-have in order to be productive not only in school but truly in all aspects of life.

2. Clean your room.

Cleaning your room will make you feel accomplished and it's also just like aesthetically pleasing to have an organized space. A tidy room is a major key to success. Plus you can have a dance party while cleaning and it doesn't even feel like your working!

3. Call your mom/grandmother or literally anyone you've ever met.

Calling your family is a guaranteed way to take up at least an hour of your time (or more if they're like my mom). If your family doesn't answer, anyone else in your contact list will suffice. Like maybe your old best friend from middle school or your cousin's hairdresser's daughter you met once three years ago- she's got to have some sort of life update, right?

4. Take a hot shower.

Everyone knows that nothing beats a warm shower. A nice shower is a perfect way to de-stress before starting a grueling research paper. You get to kill plenty of time while also getting squeaky clean, talk about two birds one stone!

5. Take a nap.

After working hard procrastinating, you're probably exhausted. So before you finally get started on your work, you'll need to take a quick cat nap. I mean, you want your brain to be at full power when doing homework, so a little recharge is ideal. Then you wake up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, ready to tackle your academics!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
