5 Things For College Students To Do This Summer
Carson Armstrong

The temperature is increasing and school is letting out. My personal favorite time of the year is almost upon us and with that, the freedom that accompanies the season. The possibilities seem to be endless and as we approach the summer, I have been compiling a bucket list of sorts.

With that being said, these are the top five things that I wish to accomplish this summer.

1. Spend time outside.

While I love the warmth, I openly admit that I sweat like a pig and, because of that, I tend to spend little time outside. This year, I will spend time outside whether it be exercising or just basking in the sun. Maybe this year, I will get the tan I've always wanted.

2. Read a book.

I tend to do this every summer because it seems like one of the most productive uses of my time, on top of I usually have required reading for school. However, this year I would like to strengthen my love of reading by exploring different genres, finding new authors, and delving into a new series. The first summer I have without a reading assignment since I was in fifth grade looks promising.

3. Travel.

Whether it be a casual road trip with friends or a destination trip with my family, I am going to explore. I have always had trouble with actually executing trips because I usually am very busy. However, this summer is going to be different. I am going to wander without fear of the unknown.

4. Save money.

I have had a part-time job for the past two summers. However, I still seem to end the school year with no money. I am going to research money saving tips and develop financial knowledge. Money moves only this summer!

5. Organize.

The word organize seems very simple but in actuality, it holds a lot of meaning to me. I am going to organize every aspect of my life. My bedroom is going to be organized so I can focus on important things; I am going to organize my school things so that move in, and life, in general, will be easier in the fall. I am going to organize my priorities so that not only this summer but the next school year will be better than ever.

Anyone who was born and raised in New Jersey (or anywhere really) knows of Bruce Springsteen, whether or not they like him is a whole other situation. I hope that his hundreds of classic rock songs and famous high energy performances, even in his sixties he can put on better concerts than people half his age, are at least recognizable to people of all ages. Love him or hate him (I identify with the former) you have to admit that some of his songs and interviews have inspirational quotes and lyrics.

New England Summers Are The BEST Summers

Why you should spend your next summer in New England.

1881
Marconi Beach

Three years ago, I chose to attend college in Philadelphia, approximately 360 miles away from my small town in New Hampshire. I have learned many valuable lessons away from home, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent in Pennsylvania. One thing that my experience has taught me, however, is that it is absolutely impossible to beat a New England summer.

Yes, the math major is doing a math-related post. What are the odds? I'll have to calculate it later. Many people have probably learned about the Fibonacci sequence in their high school math classes. However, I thought I would just refresh everyone's memories and show how math can be beautiful and apply to physical things everywhere around us with stunning examples.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.
