I know this is probably the last thing you want to be thinking about right now, but these are things you need to keep on your mind towards the beginning of the semester. We all tend to forget these things, but this list can help you remember.
1. Call your parents on the regular
Seriously, don’t forget to call them. Seeing you over winter break will just make them miss you even more than before.
2. Put money on your OneCard
Or if that’s not the term your college uses: put money in your student account! There’s nothing worse than lugging all your things to the laundry room and then not being able to pay the $1.25 to wash them.
3. Buy your textbooks
Don’t be that person who has to ask for an extension on the first assignment just because you don’t have the physical material to do it.
4. Set your alarms
Do it. Right now.
5. Make a calendar/schedule for your semester
A weekly schedule is a good place to start, but you should have your semester roughly planned out so you’ll know when to start preparing for big projects. Look at the syllabi for all of your classes and mark on your calendar all the important projects. One specific tip that personally helps me a lot is that I note any dates when I have multiple big assignments due, and I let my professors know months in advance that I might be needing extensions.
Going back to campus is a huge change in pace. You're coming out of break, when you were responsible for virtually nothing, and then suddenly you're doing everything in the world, and on a deadline. The most important thing to remember is probably just to breathe -- but maybe this list will get some of the other things out of the way so you have more room to.
