During finals week we have to make some sacrifices to our daily routine. We may not be able to have the time to live our life exactly how we want to, but we still need to take care of ourselves, mentally and physically. These are five suggestions that could make your finals week a little more stress free.
1. Workout
This may seem like one of the last things you want to do during a stressful week, but it really could help. When you exercise your body releases those feel-good hormones called endorphins. These allow you to lower levels of stress. Personally, a good workout always leaves me feeling better than before.
2. Put time aside for yourself
Binging a TV show may not be your best idea during finals week, but watching an episode a day can be good. This allows you an allotted period of time to do something you want to do.
3. Make time for friends
Venting to friends is proven to release stress. Do not cut off communication during finals week, isolating yourself if not the answer. Instead meet a friend for dinner and talk about what is bothering you!
4. Eat well
It may seem like you only have time for fast food, but these fattening decisions could leave you dealing with more repercussions. These foods do not fill your body with he nutrients it needs to be healthy and do it’s best! Treat your body right and feed it good foods such as fruits and vegetables.
5. Follow your normal sleep cycle
Nothing is worse than staying up until the crack of dawn and being up an hour later. This is also potentially very bad for your health. When you are not getting the sleep you need, you are more likely to get sick. During finals week, you cannot afford to get sick.
It may not be in your best interest to do all of these activities, but pick a few and I promise you, your finals week will be more productive and healthier!
