5 Things Millennials Get Misunderstood For

1. Living Life With No Regrets

This might very well be the first generation that isn't afraid. Now more than ever everyone is free to be truly who they want to be, and with that comes controversy. The 21st century is about expression which is why many have a hard time accepting the new norms, and which is why many are being judged for the way they live their lives. However, the millennials are on the verge of changing the American way of thinking.

2. Being Different

White, Asian, Black, Hispanic, Man, Woman, Gay, Straight, Lesbian, etc. it doesn't matter. Older generations will look down on those today and wonder what went wrong. They question these kids and their values and wonder how. But that's the great thing, the future is unknown but its moving in the right direction whether or not everyone believes it.

3. Posting Everything Online

Many will question why does everything have to be posted on social media, and yes of course in today's day and age you defiantly have to be smart about what you're posting but that doesn't mean you shouldn't post. Pictures deserved to be showed off and thoughts deserved to be expressed. The internet has completely engulfed this generation but not always in a bad way.

4. Speaking In Tweets, Texts, and Through A Snapchat

It's a new way of thinking and speaking. If you talk to any millennial its easy to start a conversation based on something on twitter or Instagram. The latest meme will always make someone laugh and pointless fights online will always be something that others can relate too. Everything felt and thought is said, and finally it's a generation that isn't afraid.

5. Always Having A Phone In Their Hand

This is the one thing I can agree with being a millennial myself. I grew up in a generation that watched TV for a few hours and spent all day playing outside. I didn't have video games, or an iPhone, and I begged for my flip phone when I was ending middle school. There was no such thing as iMessage and Facebook was the cool new social media. Millennials keep their phones in their hand at all time because its a habit at this point. It would be barbaric if you were growing up in this generation and didn't have a smartphone, we simply just cannot function. Thus, if there was one thing the millennial generation could work on it would be this, put the phone down and remember the world outside functioned once before without that Tweet.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
