5 Things Marquette Students Can Do To Embrace Autumn

You can call it Fall, if that's what you please, but I say I like Autumn!

1. Go to an Orchard for Apple Picking

There is nothing that screams Autumn like a caramel apple...or apple cider...or applesauce...or apple crumble...or apple pie! Basically, apples and their products are everywhere this time of year. Especially at the many orchards located in and around Milwaukee.

2. Go to a Haunted House

Okay, Okay, maybe not a real Haunted House, but how about a spooktacular set with harmless actors and plenty of safe scares! With so many haunted attractions in and around Milwaukee, it is hard to come up with an excuse not to go to at least one haunted house this season. Check out the Wisconsin Fear Grounds, voted one of America's top Haunted Houses.

3. Go to a Pumpkin Patch

Akin to the Apple Orchard is the Pumpkin Patch. This quintessential Autumn activity is the perfect way to escape campus for the day! With midterms and the cold bringing you down, grab some friends and set out on an adventure. At the very least you will come home with perfect fall decor and some incredibly Instagramable pictures!

4. Stay in and watch Halloween Movies

There is a reason I say "Halloween Movies" and not Horror Movies. I wouldn't consider myself a fan of horror, but I enjoy a good scare, and I can handle them better than most. However, on a rainy autumn day, I would much rather be curled up with a cup of warm tea, watching Hocus Pocus, than watching a horror film and gripping a pillow for dear life! Not sure what you want to watch? Check out my article "Seriously Underrated Halloween Films to Watch This Season"

5. Help Local Children go Trick-or-Treating

Live in a Residence Hall? Every year at Marquette students are given the opportunity to become g(hosts), and every year children who can't trick-or-treat in their own neighborhoods come to our campus for the Halloween experience. All you have to do is put up a sign on your dorm door, and have candy ready for their adorable, smiling faces.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
