Church worship is a thing of its own. It's typically part of a ritual where the people at church service sing along and soak in what the music offers to them. Worship is also used to close out the service and remind everybody of what they studied at that particular service. It is a reminder of the kingdom that they all belong to, the people who they love and who love them back, and a reminder of who they're aiming to know better, and that's Jesus.
Even for those who do not yet identify as Christian, worship is an opportunity for them to explore. They can explore what their purpose is in the church, forge new bonds, make a potentially life-changing choice, and to set down anything that's wearing them down at the feet of the Lord. Of these, the most important exploration is understanding the purpose in the church. and to set down their burdens. Many Christians today struggle with this and they work towards finding their identities, and what is there to love about this? Here are 5 things to love about church worship:
1. It calms the heart.
Worship is supposed to provide a soothing feel that Jesus is truly there, and it is a process of singing to ask for his blessings. Knowing that He's there is already a blessing itself for the heart. When times get tough, hearts get stressed with emotions such as worry, fright, or anger, and no one knows how to heal stress than the Lord does. Romans 8:28 discusses the idea of worry, and with His presence there is no need for it.
2. Worship is a time to make vows
Many Christians acknowledge that they have fallen short of Jesus' standard and by confessing it, they're taking a step back towards Him and facing their shortcomings head-on rather than continuing to run away from the issue of sin. It is a promise to be better for His glory. It is also a promise to assert identity in Christ. For example, in the song No Longer Slaves, the lyrics are, "I'm no longer a slave to fear, I am a Child of God". The identity is rooted in Christ, and there exists the vow to serve confidently in His name.
3. Communion
This extends the concept of identity rooted in Christ, where certain weeks entail the partaking of Communion. Communion is the church-wide sharing of what Jesus means to the church. He is the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit, He is Three in One. But, He was a body. A body that was broken. Blood that was shed or us. In Communion, the use of bread and wine represents His body, and His blood, and it assists in the building of an identity in Christ.
4. Positive Outlook
The world today is broken and in that brokenness is negativity. There exist feelings of doubt and the feeling of doubt is when having faith is the necessary counter to doubt. Having faith means believing in the Lord, and trusting in Him. This idea is discussed in Jeremiah 29:11, where it states how the Lord has a plan for each earthly individual, whether or not he or she is currently in the church. He will lead them on their individualized paths, where in almost all cases, their paths intersect. Their paths intersect since they were brought to the same church to grow closer to the Lord together.
5. Friendship
At church, the lead worship crew instructs those at the service to find someone around them and introduce themselves. It is unlikely that every individual who attends church to sit in the exact same location more than one or two weeks in a row. However, worship team members also get to meet new people too. The worship team has a two-deep roster, where there is at least two people on every instrument, whether it is the drums, piano, guitar, vocal, or violin. As a result, no individual is working with the exact same set of people for every service that he or she plays. The opportunity exists for all worship members to meet each other since they will all have worked together at least once. It is a blessing to have that community. All the members are on the same team, and they're all on the same journey.
