Living in New Jersey definitely has its ups & downs. Recently, one of the negatives to living here in Jersey has been the horrific, rain-filled weather we've been experiencing.
On the other hand, New Jersey has a great location.
I'm from Central New Jersey. Yes, it exists. I am 45 minutes from New York City, at most 30 minutes from the beach, and an hour and a half from Philly.
I have definitely fallen victim to dreading the return to my small town. But this summer I'm trying to appreciate every moment.
Here are 5 things to do this summer in New Jersey.
1. Playa Bowls.
I'm sure almost every New Jersey resident has had a playa bowl. Aside from the fact that they're $10 each, it's definitely worth the trip when you're hungry and the sun is scorching.
2. The beach.
As aforementioned, most of us live within 30 minutes of the beach. Definitely try and utilize that as much as you can this summer. (Monmouth Beach and Tradewinds are free.)
3. Jenkinson's Aquarium.
I'm four months away from turning 20 (gross) but every single summer, my sister and I make it a point to go to the aquarium atleast once.
4. Seaside Heights.
A landmark. The Jersey Shore cast brought this location to life about eight years ago, and continue to do so today. You can even go and visit the house they stayed in.
5. Six Flags.
Save up your money and head to Six Flags for a day. It's a great way to have a good time and get a lot of exercise! (So. Much. Walking.)
We have all experienced boredom throughout the summer. But sometimes we just have to appreciate what's around us and make the best of it.
