I am finaly, finally, finally in the home stretch of my second semester of my freshman year. It's been quite a busy year, but good news! I actually learned a thing or two since August:
1. Going to class is actually important!
Even if a professor tells you they don't have an attendance policy, it's almost always best to just go. It may be hard to get out of bed but just go! You'll see the difference in your grades for sure.
2. A lot of people transfer
I thought the college you picked was the one you stayed at for all four years and got your degree from and only people that were genuinely sad or something was wrong transferred. As it turns out, about 40% of students transfer each year in the US! Who knew!
3. Some people suck
Not everyone you meet in college is going to be someone you'll like... that being said, not everyone will like you. That's okay! Your personality is individual to you, so there's no need to try to please everyone. Some people really do suck, though. I still don't know how to pick them out of the crowd before they inflict their suckiness onto you. lmk.
4. Lunch dates are the only chances to see some people
I haven't seen my best friend in weeks except for an hour every few days to eat lunch. Our schedules are so different, so we just meet up for food and it works well without having to commit to plans all the time.
5. Prioritize
My brother told me after one of my monthly (weekly, ha whoops) mental breakdowns that college is about prioritizing. There's too much for you to do every single thing, so pick what's important to you and put your mind to it. Find your balance of priorities.
That's my two cents! I've also learned some about stats and history, but oh well.
