Halloween is officially one week away and if you’re like me you tend to make plans that often fall through. I either think about doing a cosplay or find a way to put my own costume together and buy some new makeup, only to end up having to put something together last minute.
It’s been years since I went trick-or-treating as well as bought an actual costume. But buying a costume is expensive, especially if you’re only going to wear it once. So I do not recommend it. If you’re not sure what to do this Halloween, here are some plans to consider.
1. Check Out Halloween Makeup Ideas
This year, test out your makeup skills and have a little patience. There are countless photos on Pinterest and Halloween beauty videos on YouTube, that show you step by step how to accomplish a difficult Halloween look. I'm positive you'll find one to try out, so go get inspired!
2. Carve A Pumpkin
If you didn’t have time to go pumpkin picking this year, you can easily find a great pumpkin, big or small, at your local supermarket. You can carve a silly or creepy face onto your pumpkin, or perhaps if you want to test your skills, find a template or pattern to try out. That takes more effort, time, and patience, but it will be worth it. Make sure you have the right tools or knives, and you’re good to go!
3. Go To A Haunted House
I would never go to one, but if you can handle gore and are ready to scream like you never have before, then going to a haunted house is exactly what you need this Halloween. NYC has plenty of creepy horror-filled haunted houses, filled with monsters from your nightmares. Blood Manor is considered the number one haunted house and you can learn more about it here. And if you want more spooky places to check out, TimeOut gives a great list.
There’s also a funny video with Jimmy Fallon and Kevin Hart visiting the popular Blood Manor, which has over 11 million views already!
4. Binge-Watch Halloween Movies
Like previous years, Freeform previously known as ABC Family, is doing their beloved “13 Nights of Halloween.” It is an amazing movie marathon for kids and adults alike, featuring plenty of Halloween classics and some new Halloween movies as well. However, if you’re not into the family-friendly movies Freeform offers, you can definitely find your favorite Halloween horror films on Netflix. I for one will look forward to watching “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and “The Addams Family,” along with plenty others.
5. Go To A Halloween Parade
According to USA Today, every Oct. 31 in Greenwich Village, there is a huge Halloween parade, titled "The Village Halloween Parade." Costumed revelers go from Sixth Avenue to 22nd Street. The parade ends with a party at Webster Hall. This year will be NYC's 43rd Annual Village Halloween Parade.
For more info, check out their website. I’ve never been to a Halloween Parade, but I’m sure it would be plenty of fun! Go with a group of friends, and if you’re not feeling it anymore, you can’t go wrong with bar hopping on Halloween. Score a Halloween-themed drink and revel in the madness of the Halloween spirit.
Lastly, be careful and be safe! Have a Happy Halloween lovelies!
