I love being allergic to tree nuts, peanuts, watermelon, honeydew, cantaloupe, shellfish, cucumbers, tomatoes, green beans, mustard, and other random foods I don't have time to list. It makes life so much easier for me. Wait... just kidding. I'm lying. It sucks. It makes everything a hassle, from going to big social events to simply hanging out with friends. I constantly have to worry about what I’m going to eat, and it affects my everyday life. There are plenty of you out there with food allergies who can relate. Here are 5 struggles of living with food allergies.
1. You have to make extreme adjustments to the menu at restaurants.
Me: Could I have a house salad but with no tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, and croutons?
Waiter: So just a bowl of lettuce?
Me: Yes.
2. Eating is so hard!
I’m very picky and don’t like much, yet I’m allergic to everything. WHAT CAN I EAT?!? (I go through this everyday!)
3. This picture explains what other people are like. THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND!
4. Being unsure of new things.
Can I eat this? Will it kill me? Watch, I’ll probably be allergic to another thing.
5. Giving away more than half of your Halloween candy every year.
As a kid, trick-or-treating was fun until you got home and realized that you can’t eat half of your candy. Hm, let’s see. Can’t eat this or this. Can’t eat that. Looks like I can keep 4 pieces.
